KYCAA Chinese School (KCS) is a non-profit organization under the Kentucky Chinese American Association (KYCAA).
KCS's primary mission is to provide a Chinese language educational program serving the KYCAA members and others interested in learning Chinese language and culture. KCS also promotes member interactions through activity groups and clubs for youth and adults.
We meet every Saturday from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Each school year consists of two semesters, which coincide approximately with the Fayette county public school system's academic calendar. Students will attend over 30 classes in a school year.
We are located at 401 Reed Lane, Lexington, KY 40503. See the open flyer here.
Language classes are formed based on age and Chinese levels. We teach all four skills of the language: listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Language classes focus on daily conversations, as well as Chinese culture, customs, traditions, and manners. In addition to the language learning, we also offer Chinese culture classes, such as martial arts, Chinese dance, etc. To provide a good learning environment, each class will be formed as small class to keep a low student/teacher ratio.
Our experienced and caring teachers are committed to offering an effective educational environment for our students who love to learn and who will learn to love Chinese language and culture.
Our program provides:
- Small classes and low student/teacher ratio
- Experienced bilingual teachers
- Education in Chinese culture, history and geography
We currently offer the following classes and will offer more classes in the near future:
- Chinese Language Class Level 1 to 5
- Chinese as Second Language (CSL) for adults and children
- Non-language class such as dance, painting, Kungfu, etc.
Enrollment in language and Chinese culture classes is open to all ages from pre-kindergarten age to adults. Students are placed in classes based on age and language skills.
KYCAA Chinese School is an equal opportunity school that admits students to the rights and privileges, programs, and activities made available to the student body. The School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, or financial status.
